When I first drove through the forest near Sharbot Lake towards Meisel House, I was expecting to find a lovely cottage on a private lake.
What I found was so much more than I ever could have imagined. Meisel House is a magic place. The forest is quiet and tranquil — the Meisel Woods feels enchanted. The lake is deep, refreshing and so lovely for swimming (and I’m not a big lake swimmer). That is just the surroundings — the house itself is a mid-century wonder! It is full of original items from the ’60s and ’70s, including the eclectic art, dishes, mugs, glassware, furniture, books and records! I felt transported back in time and more creative for just having been there. I left renewed and inspired. There really are magical places in the world.
